Veronica Anne Juarez,
RD, LD, CDE, began her dietetic career in Galveston, Texas as the dietitian for Galveston Independent School District where
she learned the challenges of serving kid-appealing meals while staying within the established nutrition and budgetary guidelines.
Following her experience in Galveston, she joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston as a staff dietitian and was later
promoted to Supervisor of the Nutritional Services Department. In 2004, she started the “Ask Veronica” column
on the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic website, in which Veronica answered a new diet or nutrition-related question each week.
The column was converted to a webpage and became a great resource for diet and nutrition information.
Veronica, regularly contributes to the Healthy Living publication, a health education insert of the Houston
Chronicle, and was named one of the top 10 individuals who have contributed to the Houston Hispanic community for 2005
by Bravo Houston, an English insert in Semana Weekly. She also works as an editorial board member of www.therapytimes.com an online resource for health care professionals.
Veronica hosted the weekly nutrition segment
of the Dana & Marc Morning Show on Sunny
99.1 KODA FM Houston every Monday morning at 6:20 AM for over
five years. In the Fall of 2006, the National
Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announced that Veronica achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE®)
status by successfully completing the Certification Examination for Diabetes Educators. Candidates must
meet rigorous credential and professional practice experience requirements to be eligible to take the examination and the
CDE credential demonstrates that Veronica possesses distinct and specialized knowledge in diabetes management, thereby promoting
quality of care for patients with diabetes. In the Fall of 2007 Veronica was chosen to represent the Texas Dietetic
Association for the next three years as a media representative and received the Media Award for the Houston Area Dietetic
Association for 2008 and 2010.
In 2007 Veronica started, F.I.T.
Quest, a nutrition coaching company that works with corporations and individuals to encourage successful weight management
and good nutrition through each stage of life. Veronica’s
areas of special interest include nutrition coaching for individuals and corporate wellness programs. She aims to empower
her patients to make informed choices about their diet and health and to push them beyond their comfort zone to see positive
health results.
Veronica admits that her life has been a whirl wind of activity, both professionally and personally. She
married her husband Mike on October 25, 2003 and has two sons, Quentin and Caleb. Veronica is also
a homeowner representative of the First Colony Community Association in which she organizes annual neighborhood events such
as the Fourth of July parade and the annual National Night Out event.
Veronica believes the key to a successful life is to have a healthy diet, a balanced exercise routine and most
importantly a strong spiritual foundation and respect for life. Being a dietitian touches every aspect
of Veronica’s life and provides her with great comfort to know that she has the knowledge to ensure the health of her
family and friends through the food they consume.
